Bare-root privet and beech hedging follows from November, and we'll post this season's bare-root stock here when it arrives.
Whether you want evergreen laurel or photinia for year-round screening, fast-growing privet for privacy, classic green beech for a traditional boundary or copper beech for rich colour, we have hedging to suit your Boston or Lincolnshire garden.
Potted hedging can go in now. Bare-root plants are lifted from the field while they're dormant and sold without a pot, so they cost less than potted hedging and establish quickly once planted. Ask us about discounts on larger orders.

Laurel is a popular evergreen hedge with large, glossy leaves. Because it's grown in pots, you can plant it now rather than waiting for the bare-root season.
We have Photinia 'Red Robin' in a few different sizes, plus the more compact 'Little Red Robin' and 'Carré Rouge'.
Photinia is an evergreen shrub whose new leaves come through bright red, so it makes a colourful hedge or screen.
Common privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) is a fast-growing, easy-going hedge that's ideal for privacy. It keeps most of its glossy leaves all year and has white summer flowers that bees love. It grows in almost any soil and clips neatly into a formal shape. Plant 5 to 7 per metre.
Beech (Fagus sylvatica) is the classic British hedge. Fresh green spring leaves turn warm copper in autumn, and the dry leaves usually stay on through winter, so it still screens when other hedges are bare. It suits most well-drained soils. Plant 5 to 7 per metre.
Copper beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea') has deep purple leaves in spring and summer that mellow to copper in autumn and, like green beech, hold on through winter. Mix it with green beech for a striking two-tone hedge. Plant 5 to 7 per metre.
Use our calculator to work out roughly how many hedging plants you need. Choose the hedge, how it's sold and the length you want to plant.
Laurel and Red Robin are evergreen and are sold potted.
Bare-root privet and beech are sold from November to early Spring, while the plants are dormant.
A staggered double row gives a thicker hedge sooner.
Not sure? Bring your measurements to the nursery and we'll help you work it out.
Plant between November and March, when the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Keep the roots moist. If you can't plant straight away, keep the bundle somewhere cool with the roots covered, or heel the plants into a trench.
Soak the roots in a bucket of water for an hour or two before planting.
Dig a trench about a spade deep and wide, and loosen the soil at the bottom.
Space the plants 5 to 7 per metre: a single row for a lighter hedge, or a staggered double row for a thick one.
Plant at the same depth they grew before (look for the soil mark on the stem), firm them in and water well.
Water through the first spring and summer, and keep the base free of weeds while the hedge gets going.
We can order larger quantities for bigger projects. Stock usually arrives within two weeks, and we ask for a 50% deposit on orders. Call, email or message us for a quote.

Allow 5 to 7 plants per metre. For a 10-metre hedge that's 50 to 70 plants; use the higher number for a thicker hedge or a staggered double row.
Privet is semi-evergreen and keeps most of its leaves. Green and copper beech are deciduous but usually hold their dry copper leaves through winter, so they still give privacy.

Privet and beech are both fast-growing and can reach around 5 metres if left untrimmed. Trim once or twice a year to keep the height you want.
